Sports Chaplaincy Australia’s story began back in 1982 with the desire and vision of a young Baptist Minister.
Formerly known as Sports and Leisure Ministry (SLM), Mark Tronson swiftly started impacting the sports community supported by the Australian Church. SLM/SCA rapidly grew from the small handful of chaplains in the early 90s to the hundreds of dedicated chaplains now serving in Australian sports.
There have been many great contributors to the ministry including Reverends Brian King, Bruce Warren, David Tyndall, Graham Lawrence and Paul Cameron. The contribution and legacy left by many of these men and women will leave a lasting impact on sport in Australia and abroad for many years to come.
