Manchester United Football Club’s chaplain, John Boyers, toured Australia earlier this year in an effort to promote sport chaplaincy. The tour went from April 17th to May the 10th with a special aim to promote chaplaincy in soccer clubs, particularly in Melbourne.
During the tour, Light FM interviewed Boyers on his role as chaplain to one of the biggest premiere league clubs in England. His response was humbling, as he discussed the importance of valuing each player regardless of their current position. Boyers points out that it’s about your service to the club, not what they club can do for you.
“People know that you are confidential, people know that you are trustworthy, people know that you pray, people know that you listen”, Boyers stated in the interview.
