Over 45 chaplains and supporters gathered at the beautiful Docklands waterfront for the first ever Victorian State celebration dinner.
The event celebrated sports chaplaincy’s growth across Victoria in regions such as AFL Central Victoria, Eastern Melbourne and the Cranbourne Casey area.
Interim Melbourne Metro Coordinator and former Penrith Panthers Chaplain Steve Stubbings said, “It was a brilliant night to come together, share stories, and encourage one another.” adding “Hearing from Manchester United Chaplain John Boyers was a highlight of the night.” Also reflecting, “We must be doing something right, even Rugby League chaplaincy is growing in Victoria!”
During the dinner National Director Cam Butler acknowledged some of the outstanding work chaplains have been doing. “We’re so grateful for the passion and sacrifice our chaplains are making for Jesus in their local clubs” noting, “All the feedback we’re getting from people in sports is that it’s truly making a significant difference.”
SCA would encourage its network to run local, adhoc celebration dinners or events like this in their region! Contact your regional coordinator for more assistance.
