Steve Stubbings and Cam Butler recently caught up with Canberra Raiders Chaplain John Woods at Etihad Stadium.

Woods moved to the ACT with his family in 1960 after leaving Napier New Zealand and has served as an ordained minister since 1978. Most recently Woods served as the Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Canberra and is currently taking time to study and research the place of sport and recreation in contemporary Australian life.
As a kid he loved playing footy including Aussie Rules, Union and League. So when Mark Tronson invited him to be the chaplain at Raiders when Mal Meninga was running over players he found it easy to say ‘yes’.
Woods has served the Canberra Raiders for nearly 30 years and is much loved and appreciated by his club community.
