Since the first motor sport chaplain (of the modern era) began in 1986, there have been a total of 84 men and women who have served as motor sport chaplains in Australia.
Of those, 56 are currently serving.
Some just serve at 2 events a year while others serve up to 150 events a year.
The grand total during the past 30 years stands at an enormous 11,520 events attended by MRM-SCA chaplains.
This number does not include hospital visits (often more than once for an injury), home visits, intentional coffees, weddings, funerals, baby dedications, marriage counselling, and certainly not the numerous phone calls made, usually every week.
Coleman said, “This is truly an amazing record of the selfless sacrifice of all chaplains who serve with no remuneration, who willingly cover all their own expenses to and from events.”
Further adding, “Some of our chaplains are able to raise support from dedicated supporters who see chaplaincy as a missionary ministry in the true Biblical sense. Helping them influence right across the motorsport community. For which we are deeply grateful.”
Please consider donating to help us continue to grow motor sports chaplaincy. Many thanks.
