Former Empart Australian Operations Manager and City Life Business Pastor Peter Coburn has recently joined the SCA team as its new Chief Operations Officer (COO).
Peter started in Information Technology working for Sperry Univac at Mount Isa Mines and quickly moved to the National Australia Bank where he used his expertise to grow and implement their global Video Conferencing, NAB EFTPOS Network, and their national branch security.
In the early 2000’s he founded his own Internet Service Provider & web software company xcelNet Pty Ltd & Montassi Group.
Releasing all of these businesses Peter followed the call to join CityLife Church in Melbourne’s outer South East. He served as a Network Pastor overseeing a Network of Life Groups, region of 1000+ people, Business Leader’s Ministry impacting 336 business leaders, logistics & coordination for LIFETRAX, lead the Alpha Ministry, and oversaw Pastoral Care for the CityLife Group. The church grew from 4,500 to 9,400 people in 7 years.
Since 2011 he served as Empart Australia’s Operations Manager and then in August, 2014 Empart’s International ICT Coordinator.
Peter has a long history and great understanding of the not-for-profit sector being the Founder and President of a registered, not-for-profit, benevolent association, that exists to impact individuals and families in need/crisis in our Australian communities through direct relief of poverty, sickness, distress, helplessness, destitution, suffering and misfortune.
With sports chaplaincy numbers nearing 800 and expected increase in growth Peter brings his expertise in business, people, systems, process administration to assist SCA set-up for operational scale.
National Director Cameron Butler said, “We are so grateful to have Peter on our team. His expertise and wisdom is exactly what we need to grow.” “He brings with him a rich mix of business, pastoral ministry and authentic leadership to the role… and the best part for me is his genuine love and service for Jesus Christ.”
“Oh, and I don’t really get-it, but he loves model trains?”
