Language -ˈlaŋɡwɪdʒ/
‘a system of communication used by a particular country or community’
In every community there are different languages and different words have different meanings. As a community of sports chaplains and as an organisation we wanted to take a moment to define a few of the words we use:
CBT – Community Based Teams or Church Based Teams
These are the growth groups of volunteers around the country. They define a focus, which may be regional, sport-based, church-based etc.
A CBT consists of 2-6 people who IDENTIFY potential chaplains, IDENTIFY potential sports communities, ensure the chaplains are TRAINed, APPOINT accredited chaplains, and GUIDE by ensuring the chaplains are cared for and mentored.
Huddles
These are the gatherings of chaplains to connect, network, be encouraged and refocus on the vision. These happen all over the country and again can have a regional, sport or church focus.
SCA Partner Church – transforming local sporting communities
A church that is committed to partnering with SCA to engage and help transform their local sporting communities through chaplaincy.
Zones
SCA has moved away from a centralised national office, and placed its team out across this great country so that we can be better positioned to connect to churches and local sporting communities. We currently have 3 “Zones” – Westside (WA, SA, NT), South (VIC, TAS) and North-East (NSW, ACT, QLD).
