Special guest at this years SCA National Conference and former wife of racing car legend Peter Brock concluded this years conference with a sincere thank you to all sports chaplains for their love and concern for the people of sport.

Bev shared of her love for her family and Peter and the challenges they faced at the forefront of the racing world. Bev shared, “Having the support of Terry [Dorrington] (WA Motor Racing Chaplain) during a difficult time meant a lot to our family.”

Bev Brock’s sentiment was echoed by Bernadette Sierakowski from the Victorian Institute of Sport of the work of Dot Bussey and VIS chaplaincy team and Steve Alessio General Manager of Player Development for the AFL Players Association (AFLPA). Melbourne turned on a tremendous conference with presenters like Mark Bateman on Suicide Awareness and Response, Andrew Boutros on Adrenaline and Stress, Gary Speckman on Masculine Development and special guest Roger Lipe from the USA. Terry Dorrington warmly received the Chaplains Hall of Fame Award at the National Celebration and Awards dinner for his tremendous commitment and sacrifice for the Gospel. Pippa Grange from the AFLPA received the Sportsperson of the year award for her ongoing support of sports chaplaincy and The St Andrews Foundation was recognized for their financial support of SCA’s Project72 initiative. The 2009 SCA conference will be held in Sydney on October 6-8 for the 25 year anniversary celebration.
