The John Van Groningen Scholarship Fund was launched at this years Champions Dinner with Austin Van Groningen saying he and his “Mum [Jennifer] and my sisters were very proud of dad and the difference he made in our family and in the lives of those he served including his beloved Doggies (Western Bulldogs AFL)!” Bulldog mid-fielder Daniel Cross said that “John will be missed around the club.” as he and his wife enjoyed “a very dear friendship with him since our wedding.” The fund goes to help see many young men and women serve as chaplains to sports clubs like JVG.
