The SCA team are very excited to welcome our newest team member at Docklands HQ – Herbert Um.
Of Korean decent, Herbert was born in Brisbane and grew up on the Gold Coast attending The Southport School. He later attended The University of Queensland and graduated with a dual bachelor’s degree in Business Management and Arts, majoring in International business, Sports studies and Chinese.
Herbert has had a long time passion for sports.
Herbert recently moved to Melbourne and, without saying, is an avid Maroons supporter (NB: He is still, however, looking for an AFL team to follow). His passion for sports began at a young age playing soccer for his local club, The Burleigh Bulldogs. He enjoys playing all sports, including tennis, golf, basketball and running.
An innovative thinker.
Whilst attending university, Herbert worked for various organisations including TY Sports Academy and Keystone International Partners. Within those organisations, he was involved in overseeing overseas and local trade missions, business development and athlete development. In addition to this, Herbert is skilled and experienced in event management having worked on numerous events including the Magic Millions on the Gold Coast and the Gold Coast Women in Business Awards.
SCA National Director Cam Butler recently said, “We’re thrilled to have Herbert on the team bringing a fresh, young and dynamic approach to growing our vision.” noting, “He brings a fresh set of eyes onto our ministry strategies.” In his role, Herbert is overseeing the delivery of the SCA CLUBCARE ACCESS Program around Australia.
On a more adventurous note, Herbert recently travelled around the world visiting 33 cities in 19 countries in 4 months!
He also,
• Speaks four languages: English, Korean, Japanese, Chinese
• Enjoys mentoring people and men’s issues
• Is an experienced traveller: 54 cities in 25 countries
